Home Grown Hub fosters family values, parents as teachers and home as the pinnacle for best learning practices, where we support each other and the academic success of our children.  Our guidance for homeschooling- cooperative approaches is grounded in 18 years experience with teaching and supports personal growth for parents and children. 

Like many of you reading this, Home Grown Hub takes ownership for educating our children, to be informed throughout the process, and share our insight with the goal of learning from others just like us.  We recognize the need to network for support, resources, and guidance through the many challenges with educating children.

Meet the Family..

Sabrina Albrecht Mom, Educator at Home.  Veteran teacher and administrator who started with the public system.  Co-Founder, Director, Administrator, and Teacher at the Kings Beach Parents’ Cooperative, Pre-K to 5th grade, until 2011. Degrees include Education, Instruction & Curricular Studies, Linguistics, TESOL, and Education Specialist.  Experience with teaching Language Arts and English spans elementary to college level students in Washoe and Clark County School Districts, Kings Beach Parents’ Cooperative and the University of Nevada, Reno.
I am passionate about learning, building programs for children grounded in the unschooling approach combined with the occasional cooperative setting…I gift my passion to my son.

Otto Albrecht  Educated outdoors since birth…
I wake up in the morning bouncing and don’t stop until I go to sleep.  I ski race, skate board, BMX ride, motorcycle ride, and water ski.  I love chicken nuggets with ketchup, Shel Silverstein poems, cooking with my mom and hunting with dad.
Homeschooling is fun because I get to make a lot of choices on my own.

Otto is a super flexible thinker and relates to any learning and playful context without anxiety.  Indicative of the variety of educational settings he has experienced in his 8 years of life.

John Albrecht Dad, Educator at Home.  Veteran ski racer, motorcycle rider, bicyclist and specialty home builder at Fortress Construction, Lake Tahoe.      Born and raised in Tahoe, I continue to work, play, and learn here with my family.  I hope to instill a love for the mountains in my son, like my parents did for me.

Meet the Cousins

Cody and Logan are Otto’s cousins, but they are like brothers.  Together they are enthusiastic athletes and embrace learning with each other.  Cody and Logan are freestyle skiers and trampoline tricksters with an amazing amount of gusto for living life to it’s fullest…much like their mom and dad.  Truly an inspiration for us all.
